What was printed in the Arizona Gazette Newspaper on April 5 th, 1909 is something that I found remarkably interesting. There was nothing stopping them but nature itself. In 1907, there were no man-made structures like the Lake Powell Dam. Their plans were to float down the Colorado River to Yuma to document this unknown and unexplored area. He started his trip in Green River Utah on the Colorado River through what’s known as the Utah’s Canyonlands. His trip consisted of several places, but one location may have changed the way we think about the Grand Canyon and our government organizations that research history. Kinkaid, an archeologist from the Smithsonian Institute was hired to discover the Western States. There is a chance that this could be one of the biggest cover-ups known in the 20 th century in the United States. Now pay close attention to the dates that I’ve mentioned above because I think it is crucial to the story that I am about to mention. In 1908 he declared the Grand Canyon a National Monument and by 1919, the Grand Canyon status of National Park was granted. He visited the modern-day area of Lake Powell and the Grand Canyon several times to explore and admire its beauty. There’s no doubt that Theodore Roosevelt loved the Grand Canyon area. But what about lost history that was purposely hidden from us? Not necessarily hidden for the protection of historical sites but to hide history because it will rewrite the history we all were taught. Some of it is passed every day by hikers and adventurers and they don’t recognize it. Some of it will never be seen by explorers. There are thousands of years of history in the Grand Canyon.
